A series of academic exchange activities on science and technology will be held next month in Beijing, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology has announced.
Tens of thousands of scientific research and technological personnel from Beijing, other regions and from abroad will take part in 340 academic events throughout the month of October in the capital.
The event is the seventh such month since 1998, with the aim of promoting exchange on ideas on various problems concerning the economic and social development in Beijing, according to He Huiling, vice-chairman of the association.
As the sponsor, the association is expected to provide more references to decision-makers of the municipal government, He said.
Seven fields will be involved, including urban transportation management and sustainable development, environmental protection and resources preservation, personnel training, disaster and infectious disease prevention and control.
Among the exchange events, the Second Beijing Sino-Euro Urban Development Seminar (Application and Development of Intelligent Transportation System) will invite 20 experts from Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy for discussion.
The seminar will be held on October 13-14.
Meanwhile, the Forum of Young Scientists of Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan, which will focus on the next-generation network, will be held on October 21-24, sources said.
