Beijing's vice mayor Fan Boyuan says Zhongguancun, known as "China's Silicon Valley", will play a leading role in the high-tech sector in the coming decade.
In the coming 10 years, China is to develop eight core advanced technological projects, seven of which are to be carried out in the Zhongguancun science park. They include integrated circuits, third generation mobile communications, audio, video and medical ventures.
Despite its bright future, the Zhongguancun science park is facing difficulties including a lack of innovative capacity and an unbalanced talent structure
