Beijing told to remain focused in final sprint
Adjust font size:

With roughly 190 days to go before the 2008 Olympics open, Beijing organizers were told to remain focused in the final stage of the build-up to the Games.

Speaking at the opening of an IOC/BOCOG working group meeting on Wednesday, IOC's coordination commission chairman Hein Verbruggen said that they were entering the final sprint and could not afford to relent efforts.

"With such a short time left, it is crucial more than ever to remain focused," said Verbruggen.

"Since we all strive to put on a quality Games in coming August, integration across the organizing committee with stake holders will become more and more crucial in the coming months," he added.

A wide range of topics such as traffic management, environment, NOC services and media services were discussed at the closed-door meeting, according to BOCOG.

The Beijing Olympics will take place from August 8 to 24.
