Floods Death in China Rises to 105

The death toll in the southwest China floods has risen to 105, with 83 people still missing.

The Chinese central government has allocated 40 million yuan, or US$4.8 million, in disaster relief for the flood-affected regions.

The bulk of the money will go to Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality, which were devastated by floods triggered by a rainstorm.

The rainstorm caused floods and landslides that trapped hundreds of people, destroyed farmland and transportation links.

The State Council has dispatched a disaster-relief mission to work together with local governments.

And the China's Red Cross allocated relief goods including tents and quilts to the disaster-hit areas.
