Beijing Chang'an Cultural Amusement Palace, the predecessor of which was the famous Chang'an Grand Theatre, reopened in 1996 following a three-year renovation.
Situated in Guanghua-Chang'an Mansion in East Chang'an Entertainment Hall as well as teahouses, restaurants, bars, offices and guest rooms in different styles. The former Chang'an Grand Theatre in Xidan has been reconstructed into a new national class-A theatre on a new site. Combining ancient Chinese architecture and modern technology, the new theatre possesses advanced stage equipment and a movable stage, an orchestra pit that can be pulled back and forth, computer-con-trolled lighting and state-of-the-art sound systems to support all types of performances.
The theatre has 800 seats and has boxes for VIPs on the second floor. The front rows in the stalls comprised redwood chairs and tables, on which are teapots with hand-painted images of children, which recreate the atmosphere of a Ming of Qing-dynasty theatre.
The discotheque, karaoke hall, cinema, electronic game rooms and the American west style beer bar in Chang'an Entertainment Hall offer multi-cultural entertainment services. Four restaurants display to the full different delicacies from various parts of China.
