Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met in Beijing Tuesday with Thamarak Issarangkurana Ayutthaya, special envoy of the Thai Prime Minister and also deputy prime minister of Thailand. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties, United Nations (UN) affairs and other international and regional issues of common concern.
Speaking highly of the development of Sino-Thai relations in recent years, Tang expressed his hope that the two sides, taking the opportunity of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, could lift the partnership.
China appreciated Thailand's long years' dedication and its important role in international and regional affairs, Tang said, adding that China is willing to join hands with Thailand to push forward the UN to play a more important role in solving regional conflicts and boosting progress.
Thamarak said the Thai government cherished the traditional friendship with its Chinese counterpart. China, as the UN Security Council permanent member and the neighbor of Thailand, played an important role in international affairs.
Thailand is willing to further enhance consultation and cooperation with China on international affairs.
