Former Haitian President Jean Bertrand Aristide said he only seeks peace for Haiti and would not interfere in Haiti's politics during his temporary stay in Jamaica, news reaching Havana from Jamaica's capital Kingston said.
"I want peace for Haiti, I want peace for Jamaica, for the Caribbean Region and all the people," said a statement issued by the former Haitian head of state on Thursday after he met with Jamaican Prime Minister Percival Noel James Patterson on Wednesday.
He also said he would not "do anything that is politically hindering the peace process of my beloved Haiti."
He pledged in his meeting with Patterson to stay out of Haiti's politics and waited for the reunion with his two daughters, the news release said.
Aristide arrived in Jamaica from the Central African Republic on Monday and expected his stay in the country would last for ten weeks. He had claimed to be kidnapped by the United States on Feb.29 to the Central African Republic.
