Vice Premier Urges Closer Trade Links with EU

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi said in Beijing Monday that China and the European Union (EU) should strengthen dialogue at all levels to solve the existing problems in bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Wu made the remark during her meeting with visiting EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy in Beijing on Monday afternoon.

Wu said China holds a positive stance on pushing forward the Doha Development Agenda of the World Trade Organization (WTO). She said China supports the multilateral talks to reach a win-win solution at the earliest date possible. She said China is ready to step up dialogues and communication with the EU to make joint efforts towards the progress of the Doha Development Agenda.

Lamy said EU is willing to strengthen cooperation with China within the framework of the WTO and jointly push for substantial progress of the Doha Development Agenda.
