ROK President Considers Holding Confidence Vote

President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea (ROK) said he wants to hold national vote over his confidence after the parliament general election on April 15.

Roh Moo-hyun said this in a televised press conference held at the Blue House, the Presidential Office on Thursday.

Roh proposed last October to hold national referendum in last December to see whether nationals trust him. And he said if he failed in the national vote, he would leave the presidential post.

But his proposal aroused strong protests from local political parties that said it is lacking constitutional root.
