Hamdy Weheba, chief of staff of the Egyptian armed forces, met with a Chinese military delegation in Cairo Sunday.
The delegation is led by Qian Shugen, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
During the meeting, Weheba said Egypt believes that the growth of Egyptian-Chinese ties is of great significance and the country is willing to enhance cooperation with China in various areas.
He also reiterated Egypt's support for China's reunification.
For his part, Qian said Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Egypt in January has pushed the two countries' ties to a new high.
"The Chinese armed forces will make unremitting efforts to develop friendship and cooperation with the Egyptian armed forces," Qian said.
The Chinese military delegation arrived here on Feb. 19 for a four-day visit.
