China has confidence in the prospects for the Sino-Romanian cooperation, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing Monday at a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase.
Wen said China valued its relations with Romania and would develop them on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, equality, reciprocity and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
Noting that 2004 was the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Romanian diplomatic ties, Wen said the friendship between the two sides had been consistent and the two countries always understood, supported and assisted each other despite the changes in international situation.
He also commended the substantial progress of economic and trade relations with expanding cooperative spheres.
Nastase, who is here as a member of a Socialist International delegation, said Romania attached great importance to its relations with China and he was pleased to see economic and trade cooperative projects discussed during his visit last year were being substantiated.
Romania believed that the sound political relations would push forward the growth of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and it would work with China for further cooperation, Nastase said.
