Mortar Attack Kills Two US Soldiers in Iraq

Two US soldiers were killed and four others injured Thursday in a mortar attack near Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, the US military said Friday.

An official of the fourth Infantry Division said that the mortars hit the base at about 6:15 p.m. (1515 GMT) on Thursday. All the wounded were in stable condition now.

The attack raised the number of US soldiers killed in operations in Iraq to 206 since US President George W. Bush declared the end of major combat operations in Iraq on May 1.
