China's National People's Congress (NPC) is ready to strengthen cooperation with the parliament of Slovenia, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Wu Bangguo said in Beijing Thursday.
Wu made the remark during his meeting with Slovenian Prime Minister Anton Rop who was in Beijing for an official visit to China.
Wu said the NPC and the Slovenian parliament had achieved good results in their cooperation and helped push forward bilateral relations, promote exchanges between the political parties and local areas of the two countries.
Wu said bilateral relations had seen rapid growth since the two countries established diplomatic relations. The two countries had maintained good cooperation within such international organizations as the United Nations, Wu said.
He said the new generation of leadership of China placed high importance on developing relations with Slovenia.
Wu also briefed the guests about the process of reform in China.
Rop said he was deeply impressed by China's progress and development in his first trip to the country. He said the parliaments of the two countries had already developed a sound mechanism of exchanges. Rop expressed the hope that the two sides would continue to expand cooperation and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
