Wu Guanzheng, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Wednesday hailed the relations between China and Oman as a good example for relations with the Gulf countries.
Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks in Muscat when he met with Omani Sultan Qabus Bin Said.
Wu said that China and Oman have shared a long-term friendship ever since the ancient "Road of Silk" and the "Road of Spices" linked the two peoples.
Exchanges between the two countries have continued to be deepened in politics, economy and culture, and cooperation have been expanded since the two countries established diplomatic ties 25 years ago, Wu noted.
"The friendly cooperative relationship between China and Oman is a good example among ties between China and the Gulf countries," Wu said.
Wu said he admires Oman's efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region, thanking Oman for adherence to the one-China policy and support to China on international affairs.
The new Chinese leadership attaches great importance to maintaining the friendship with the Gulf countries, including Oman, Wu said. China will make joint efforts with Oman to push the existing friendship and cooperation to a new high.
The Omani head of state said he admires and thanks the Chinese leaders for their attention and positive efforts in promoting bilateral ties.
He noted that Oman treasures the traditional friendship between the two peoples and that he is convinced that the two countries stand to score a lot through cooperation in energy resources, transportation and trade.
Wu arrived here on Tuesday night at the invitation of the State Council of Oman.
