Chinese Naval Fleet Begins Overseas Tour

A Chinese naval fleet left Zhanjiang, a port city in south China's Guangdong Province, Wednesday for an overseas trip to Guam, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.

The fleet, led by Deputy Commander of the South China Sea Fleet Xue Tianpei, includes missile destroyer Shenzhen, and the depot ship Qinghai Lake, with 548 naval officers and sailors aboard.

It was the first trip by the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy to Guam and Brunei Darussalam and the second tour to Singapore.
