More than 30 experts from China and the United States held discussions in Beijing Monday on security of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, at a seminar called Olympic Security: Preparedness and Response.
Wang Wei, vice president of the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee, addressed the meeting that preparation for the event has so far entered a new stage with all works proceeding. Experiences from the past Olympic Games and the ongoing practice of Beijing show security and international cooperation were both very important to the success of such great events as Olympic Games.
He said the meeting will discuss four major issues, namely, Olympic security, medical crisis response, emergency management, and international cooperation. Participants will deliver speeches on such topics as suicidal explosions since Sept. 11 attacks, and subway safety for Olympic Games.
The seminar was co-sponsored by China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, and the US embassy to China.
