German President Leaves for Nanjing

German President Johannes Rau left Beijing Saturday morning for Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, continuing his first state visit to China.

Rau arrived in Xi'an, northwest China's tourism city famous for its historical relics, on Sept. 10 when starting the first leg of his visit to China. Then he visited Beijing.

Rau's visit to China is scheduled from Sept. 10 to 17 at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
