China and Canada have developed multi-faceted military exchanges and cooperation on the basis of friendship, Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong said in Beijing Thursday while meeting John McCallum, Canada's Minister of National Defense.
Zeng said the two countries had already cultivated extensive trade, economic and technological ties.
He was satisfied with the close consultation and cooperation between the two sides on important international issues.
McCallum said Canada should be far-sighted in continuing to engage with China.
The Canadian military would enhance bilateral exchanges with their Chinese counterparts, he said. (Xinhua News Agency September 12, 2003)
