A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said China will make joint efforts with Niger to promote friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries.
Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in Beijing Monday during a meeting with a delegation from Niger's ruling party, the National Movement for Social Development (MNSD in French) -- Nassara.
China has enhanced cooperation with Niger in the political, economic and cultural fields since the two countries resumed diplomatic ties in 1996, Luo told Habi Mahamadou Salissou, head of the MNSD.
Luo said China appreciates the Nigerien government's adherence to the "one-China" policy since 1996. He suggested that the CPC and the MNSD increase exchanges and cooperation to better handle inter-party and state affairs.
In response to Luo's suggestion, Habi Mahamadou Salissou said his party will continue to support China in its goals of modernization and national reunification.
