Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong said Tuesday he believes the China visit of President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea (ROK) would boost the understanding and trust between the two nations and two peoples.
The visit would also usher in a new phase of friendly cooperation between the two countries, Zeng said at a meeting with Roh in the Great Hall of the People.
Zeng said he had visited ROK twice and had been deeply impressed by the country's picturesque scenery and its enterprising people.
Roh said he had had fruitful talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and met with Chairman Wu Bangguo of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, which had convinced him that China attaches great significance to developing friendly ties with his country.
He said the ROK stands ready to advance the comprehensive, cooperative partnership with China.
