Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju met with the heads of two US and Finnish companies in Beijing Thursday.
During his meeting with Maurice Greenberg, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), Huang said AIG had cooperated well with China in the fields of insurance and finance over the years.
He said the company made substantial contributions to the development of education and social welfare in China. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts that Greenberg made to support the development of Beijing and Shanghai cities.
Huang expressed the belief that the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese enterprises and the AIG would grow to a deeper and better level.
During his meeting with Chairman and CEO of Nokia Corporation of Finland Jorma Ollila, Huang said the fast expansion of the information industry in China helped accelerate upgrading of the industrial structure and the process of industrialization.
He expressed appreciation for the importance that Nokia placed on expanding its operation in China. He hoped that Chinese enterprises would further expand economic and technological cooperation with Nokia.
The CEOs expressed their confidence in the future of the Chinese economy and the willingness to further expand their companies' exposure in the country.
