Premier Wen Jiabao praised Chinese rescue personnel for their outstanding performance in international aid activities for earthquake relief in Algeria.
The Chinese rescue team returned from Algeria to the motherland on May 30 after fulfilling their earthquake relief mission. This was the first time that Chinese rescue personnel have participated in such international aid activities.
Wen Jiabao pointed out in his recent written commendation that the Chinese team fulfilled their humanitarian duties, made contributions to reducing casualties from the earthquake and promoted the friendship between the Chinese people and the Algerian people.
"Your debut performance in international aid has shown that you are a professional team with strong capabilities," noted Wen, who also hoped the team will make greater contributions in future earthquake relief activities.
After listening to the work report by the Chinese rescue team Thursday, Vice Premier Hui Liangyu stressed that Chinese rescue personnel should follow Premier Wen's instructions and improve their emergency aid levels to make further contributions for the people.
