Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Kazak counterpart Kasymzhomart Kemelevich Tokayev met in Almaty Saturday and shared the view that further development of bilateral strategic partnership is in the long-term interest of the two countries.
Li, who arrived here Saturday afternoon for a four-day visit, said that the new collective leadership of China will carry on a policy in pursuit of good-neighborly relations with Kazakhstan and will promote bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
The Chinese official said that China, a victim of terrorism and narcotics, has attached great importance to the anti-terrorism and anti-drug cooperation with Kazakhstan within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Tokayev, who is also state secretary, said that the Kazak government is willing to enhance the strategic partnership with China and is firm in fighting terrorism and drug smuggling.
Tokayev also reaffirmed Kazakhstan's stance of supporting one-China policy and opposing Taiwan's attempt to join the World Health Organization.
