A team of World Health Organization experts is continuing an inspection of the prevention and treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Shanghai.
On Tuesday, the six-member team divided into three groups to visit Shanghai's disease prevention and control center, hospitals and a key virus laboratory.
At the center, the experts were briefed on the work against SARS by leaders of the Shanghai health bureau and the center. They then inspected the center's laboratory. The health bureau offered the experts relevant documents in English.
The WHO experts also visited a key national laboratory on virus research affiliated to the elite Fudan University, two major hospitals and two district-level disease control centers.
The WHO experts held discussions and consultative meetings with local medical experts and doctors.
The team arrived in Shanghai on Monday and held a hearing on the work report of the Shanghai municipal government and the municipal diseases prevention office on SARS prevention and control. They also inspected precautionary measures taken at Shanghai's Hongqiao Airport on Monday.
