Vietnamese Party Leader Hopes for Peaceful, Friendly Border with China
Vietnam's top Party leader said Thursday in Kunming, Yunnan Province that he hopes to work with China to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all fields and to build their border into a peaceful and friendly one of long-term stability.

Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, made the remark while meeting with Bai Enpei, secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Bai briefed the guests on the development of Yunnan, which shares a border with Vietnam, expressing his belief that the visit will boost exchanges and cooperation between his province and its neighbor.

Manh said he has had a successful visit to China, and has seen with his own eyes China's progress. He pledged the efforts of Vietnam toward advancing bilateral friendly ties.

Manh also expressed hopes of enhancing cooperation between local governments in the two countries.
