At present, it was not appropriate for the United Nations to be involved in resolving the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing Thursday.
At a regular press conference, Kong said a discussion on the DPRK nuclear issue took place among specialists at the United Nations. However China held that talks between the United States and the DPRK were the key to solving the issue and it was not appropriate for the UN to be involved at present.
In response to a question on whether China refused to attend the discussion, Kong said China was a member of the specialist group.
