Liao Xilong, director-general of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met in Beijing Monday with a military medical delegation headed by Jansen Van Rensburg, surgeon general of the South African National Defense Force.
Liao, also member of the Central Military Commission, said that with the development of bilateral relations, military exchanges were active and the areas of military exchanges between the logistics departments had been expanded.
Last year, a PLA military medical delegation participated in the International Conference of Military Medicine in South Africa, Liao noted.
Liao believed this visit by the South African military medical delegation would enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two armed forces, particularly between the two medical units.
Rensburg said this was his first visit to China and the great achievements that China had scored since implementing its reform and opening-up policy had deeply impressed the delegation.
The PLA was excellent in its military medical work, he said, hoping the two armed forces could further cooperation in various fields in the future.
