Chinese President Jiang Zemin is meeting with the visiting US Secretary of State Colin Powell in the Great Hall of the People.
Jiang and Powell exchanged views on bilateral relations and major international and regional issues.
Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met Powell Monday morning following the talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and the visiting US Secretary of State.
Powell arrived in Beijing Sunday afternoon after his Japan tour.
Powell is scheduled to visit the Republic of Korea Monday afternoon after his China visit.
