US Secretary of State Colin Powell will pay a visit to China from Feb. 23 to 24 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said at a regular press conference in Beijing Thursday.
According to Zhang, during his China tour, Powell will discuss with Chinese leaders on the Sino-US rations and international issues of common concern including the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The arrangement for the specific itinerary of Powell's China tour is still under way, the spokeswoman added.
On Wednesday, the US State Department announced that Powell will visit Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) from Feb. 21 to 25 for consultations on crises over the DPRK nuclear programs and Iraqi issue, and the principal purpose of the trip is to go to Seoul for the inauguration of Rho Moo Hyun as ROK president on Feb. 25.
