Nobel Laureate Johh Nash to Visit HK
American mathematician and Nobel Laureate John Nash, whose life has inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, will visit Hong Kong Sunday, a Hong Kong newspaper reported Wednesday.

Nash will stay at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) until the end of next week to talk with researchers and students about his work.

A lecture by Nash, open to HKU students and the public, will be held next Tuesday.

Now a mathematics professor at Princeton University, the 74-year-old Nash won the 1994 Nobel prize for economics for his ground-breaking work in game theory in the early 1950s.

Nash suffered a mental breakdown in 1959 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He dropped all research for the next two decades before recovering in the early 1990s.

He became a household name worldwide in 2001 when Hollywood produced the blockbuster A Beautiful Mind based on his biography by New York Times reporter Sylvia Nasar.
