China Hopes for Security Council Fairness, Objectivity on Iraq
China hopes that the United Nations Security Council will examine the Iraq issue "fairly and objectively" based on the nuclear inspectors' report due on January 27.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the remarks in Beijing on Thursday at a regular press conference, underlining that China's position clearly advocates a political and diplomatic solution within the UN framework.

She said the Security Council passed Resolution 1441 in an attempt to resolve the problem, and all sides should comply with it. Iraq has submitted relevant reports as required by the resolution, and the UN inspectors' nuclear inspection is also underway.
