Defense Minister Meets Georgian Guest
Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met with Georgian Vice Minister of Defense Gela Bezhuashvili in Beijing on Tuesday.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China and a state councilor, said that the Chinese side attaches great importance to Bezhuashvili's current visit.

The traditional friendship between the two peoples has transcended the long distance between the two countries, said Chi.

Chi said the two countries have strengthened their relations in various fields since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, adding that China is ready to expand the bilateral military ties through joint efforts of both sides.

Chi thanked the Georgian government for adherence to the "one China" policy, and briefed the guests on the 16th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party and China's economic and military development.

Bezhuashvili said the cooperation between Georgia and China in political, economic, cultural and military fields have developed rapidly in recent years, and the Georgian government was grateful to China for its support and assistance.

Bezhuashvili expressed his hopes that his current visit will help boost the friendly ties between the two countries and the two armed forces, stressing that the Georgian side will strictly abide by the "one China" policy.

Kui Fulin, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Bezhuashvili Monday.

Bezhuashvili and his party were visiting China as guests of the Chinese Ministry of Defense.
