13th China-US Dialogue on Human Rights Held
The 13th China-US dialogue on human rights was held in Beijing from Dec. 16 to 17, sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with the US delegation.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Li Baodong, director of the International Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and Lorne W. Craner, assistant secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor of the US State Department.

The two sides briefed each other on the human rights situation in each country, and exchanged views, extensively and in-depth, on issues of common concern, including judicial reform, religious freedom and bilateral exchanges on human rights.

The two sides strengthened mutual understanding, narrowed differences and expanded consensus.

Both sides believed the discussion, which was held in a candid and friendly atmosphere, was constructive and produced positive results. They also agreed to continue dialogue and exchanges on human rights issues on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

During their stay in Beijing, the US delegation visited the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Justice, the State Administration of Religious Affairs, and the China Youth Political College.

The US delegation will also visit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
