Top Legislator Meets Ecuadorian Guest
China will continue to promote friendly relations with Ecuador, with the support of the National Chamber of Representatives of Ecuador, China's top legislator Li Peng said in Beijing Monday.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting Jose Cordero Acosta, president of National Chamber of Representatives of Ecuador.

Li said as developing countries, China and Ecuador had common interests in peace and development and shared identical or similar stances on major international issues, adding China and Ecuador were reliable friends.

China appreciated the Ecuadorian government's adherence to the one-China principle, and support for China on human rights and China's entry to the World Trade Organization, he stressed.

Noting this was his second visit to China, Cordero said he was very glad to see the achievements of China, which greatly encouraged all developing countries.

Chinese enterprises were welcome to invest in Ecuador, he added.
