A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Saturday in Bangkok called on Asian political parties to further enhance cooperation and jointly contribute to regional peace and development.
"For Asian political parties, it is an unshakable historical obligation to ensure lasting peace and stability, strive for economic growth and prosperity, and promote dialogue and cooperation among the countries in the region," said Cai Wu, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Cai made the remarks in an address to the Second International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).
Hosted by Thailand's ruling Thai Bak Thai Party, the meeting took place from November 22 to 24 , attracting 230 representatives from 77 parties in the region.
Cai, representing the CPC at the conference, made a number of suggestions on how to form a partnership among regional political parties.
"We should keep pace with the trend towards globalization and regional cooperation, and continue to push cooperation among political parties towards the orientation of deepened and sustained development," he said.
