Daniels Extends His Spell of Magic
Following unprecedented popularity among locals, Brett Daniels -- the Las Vegas "Prince of Magic" -- has decided to prolong his performance for a month until November 13, the organizer, Shanghai Circus World Acting Co. Ltd., announced yesterday.

Students will be the prime target for the next round of magic, and 60 additional shows so far have been booked by local schools, it said.

When the magic wizard completed his eight-show performance on Sunday night at the Shanghai International Gymnastics Center, nearly 20,000 spectators had been mesmerized by his spell, with attendance rate reaching 80 percent.

After his extended tour in the city, Daniels will head for Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and Yangzhou in Jiangsu.

"Daniels' popularity is due to his well-rounded performing prowess, combining large-scale illusions with breathtaking sleight of hand," said Zheng Mei, deputy manager of the circus acting company.

Daniels said the extension will raise his recognition in Shanghai, "paving the way for his appearance at the Shanghai International Magic Festival next year," where he will make "the Jin Mao Tower disappear."
