China is satisfied with the results of a high-level meeting on Afghanistan held during the recent session of the United Nations' General Assembly, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.
Spokesman Kong Quan said that at the meeting in New York on Sept. 13, participants, including Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, discussed issues on the current situation and the rehabilitation of Afghanistan and reached a consensus.
"China is satisfied with the achievements attained at the meeting," he said.
He said rehabilitation is an important guarantee for the success of the Afghan peace process. It needs relevant UN agencies to play their roles and continue strengthening coordination.
China, as a friendly neighbor of Afghanistan, has always committed itself to the cause of peace and rehabilitation in Afghanistan, and has timely provided a large amount of assistance to achieve these goals.
China is ready to join hands with all parties concerned to promote the peace process in Afghanistan.
