Kristjan Johannsson, known as the world's "tenor prince," will give his second Beijing performance on Sept. 14, singing a variety of well-known opera pieces.
The event's organizers said Wednesday that Johannsson will perform Celeste Aida and La Traviata of G. Verdi, and also some widely known songs including Musica Prohibita by Gastaldon and O Sole Mio by Capua. Liu Hongling, a famous Chinese soprano, will join him on some duets.
The China National Orchestra will accompany the concert, under the direction of Li Xincao, a young Chinese conductor well-known both home and abroad.
Johannsson was born in Iceland and given professional tenor training in Italy. He was ranked among the world's top tenors due to his deep understanding of classical operas.
Johannsson first wowed China with his performance of the heroic role of Calaf in "Turandot," staged in Beijing's Forbidden City in1998.
Johannsson's performance in Turandot, in which he sang the most renowned aria "Nessun Dorma," left a deep impression on the Chinese audience.
