Senior CPC Official Meets Cuban Guests
Wei Jianxing, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met in Beijing Monday with Yadira Garcia Vera, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and her party.

Wei said the CPC and the Chinese people very much treasure their traditional friendship with Cuba. China has always been concerned with Cuba's development and taken joy in all the Cuban people's achievements.

The CPC and the Chinese people would as always support the cause of the Cuban people in safeguarding national independence and state sovereignty by fighting outside interference as well as in building socialism, he said.

Thanking Cuba for its support in the international arena, Wei said that he hoped to continuously advance the relations between the two countries and the two parties.

Yadira expressed thanks to China for its valued assistance and support for Cuba.

Despite some difficulties the Cuban people have made remarkable achievements in economic development, increasing employment and improving living standards, she said. Cuba hoped to further boost its friendly relations of cooperation with China.

Wei also briefed the Cuban guests on preparations for the upcoming the 16th CPC national congress.
