China Edges out Japan in Under-21 Soccer Friendly Contest
Xu Liang's splendid free-kick help the host China beat Japan 1-0 in the under-21 international soccer friendly contest in Shanghai Thursday evening.

Both sides had several chances close to open scoring in first ten minutes and finally the Chinese 21-year-old defender's free-kick broke the silence in the 25th minute to lead the hosts 1-0 over Japan. In injury time of the first half, Chinese goalkeeper Yang Jun capped a fine display by saving a solo drive, which was the biggest threat from the Japanese team.

Japan was taking the control of the second half step by step but failed to equal the match till the end.

Qu Bo, who recently signed with English premiership Tottenham Hotspur, appeared in the first half and had fine performance. Qu, who had 19 caps for China, became the youngest Chinese footballer playing in English premier League.
