Richard Armitage, the US deputy secretary of state, will visit China from August 25 to 27, as agreed by China and the United States.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan confirmed the visit in response to a press question in Beijing Thursday.
During the visit, Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing will hold political consultations with Armitage. They will exchange views on Sino-US relations and major international and regional issues of common concern, Kong said.
