Indian and Pakistan troops have exchanged firing and shelling at some sectors along the line of control and the international border in south Kashmir since Tuesday evening, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

No loss of life or damage was reported on the Indian side, the agency quoted official sources in the area as saying on Wednesday.

Sixteen mortar shells from across the line exploded on Tuesday night in a village in the Rajouri district of India-controlled Kashmir, PTI said, adding that Indian troops retaliated against Pakistani forward posts and bunkers.

However, the sources said, the damage on the other side could not be ascertained.

Small arms intermittent firing between the two sides was also reported from 28 places along the international border between thetwo neighbors in south Kashmir, PTI said.
