The Serbian government adopted on Thursday a resolution to annul a unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo and called for an urgent session of the parliament to approve the resolution, the official Tanjug news agency reported.
The resolution said acts and activities of the provisional Kosovo government to unilaterally declare independence are to be nullified as they violate Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"Those acts and activities have no legal effect in the Republic of Serbia or in international legal system. Unilateral secession of a part of the sovereign state's territory is an act of legal violence against the Republic of Serbia and violence against the valid international law," the resolution stated.
The Serbian government requested all UN member states to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with international law, the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
It is widely believed that the Kosovo parliament will adopt a statement of intent to proclaim independence on Sunday.
