Air strikes kill 10 including 9 Taliban militants
Adjust font size:

Air attacks against Taliban fighters in Afghanistan's western Farah province left 10 persons including nine suspected Taliban insurgents dead, officials said Monday.

"A group of militants had meeting in a house in Bakwa district Sunday night when aircraft of the international forces dropped bombs, killing nine of them," an official of Farah's provincial administration told Xinhua but declined to be named.

He also added that one woman was also killed in the strike.

However, he failed to specify if the attack carried out by NATO or the US-led Coalition forces.

On the other hand, a senior police officer in Farah province Abdul Rashid Khan told Xinhua that the strikes carried out by the US-led Coalition forces Sunday night left several Taliban fighters dead, but failed to give an exact figure.

Taliban insurgents have yet to make any comment.

Neither NATO nor US military were immediately available to make comment.

Both the US-led Coalition forces and the NATO-led peace keeping force the ISAF have several times in the past carried out air raids on militants hideout, killing numbers of civilians.
