Argentine President Christina Fernandez on Thursday greeted Chinese community on the coming Chinese Spring Festival, the first time for an Argentine leader to greet Chinese living in the country on such occasion.
In a congratulatory message, Fernandez expressed her warmest greetings and respect to overseas Chinese living in Argentina on Chinese Lunar New Year festival. She also pledged to enhance cultural exchanges between Argentina and other countries, including China, during her tenure.
There are about 60,000 overseas and ethnic Chinese in Argentina who have made active contributions to the economic development and social prosperity of the South American country. In Buenos Aires, Chinese community is scheduled to put on grand activities on February 3 to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival.
