Switzerland, China hail cooperation, ties
Adjust font size:

Switzerland and China Thursday praised their bilateral relations and cooperation in trade and other fields.

Switzerland and China enjoy very good political ties nowadays and their bilateral trade is growing rapidly, said Swiss Confederation President and Federal Councilor of Home Affairs Pascal Couchepin while meeting China's Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan on the sidelines of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss Alpine resort town of Davos.

Couchepin praised China's achievements in economic development, saying that growth in Asia, especially in China, has become one of the most important propelling forces of the world economy.

He reaffirmed the Swiss government's adherence to the one-China policy and pledged that Taiwan will never get support from Switzerland in its bid for UN membership.

Zeng, for his part, said that Switzerland has become a vital partner of China in its trade and technological cooperation with Europe. China welcomes more investment from Switzerland, he said, adding that he hoped the two countries could expand cooperation in energy efficiency and environmental protection.
