Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Tamer Khalil reiterated in Cario Egypt's adherence to the one-China policy and opposition to the "Taiwan independence", said a press release obtained by Xinhua on Thursday.
Khalil made the remarks during his talks with visiting Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Wu Dawei, noting that the leaders of the two countries have been attaching great importance to the bilateral relations.
The high-level exchange visits between the two countries are frequent and the bilateral governmental sector exchanges are very active, Tamer noted, expecting more efforts to strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation and facilitate more Chinese tourists to Egypt.
For his part, Wu highlighted Egypt's long-term efforts to enhance China-Egypt relations, expressing China's appreciation to Egypt's adherence to the one-China policy.
Wu also noted that China would like to take more efforts together with Egypt to create a new frontier of China-Egypt relations in the new era.
The two diplomats also exchange views on Iranian issue among other Mideast regional developments.
Li Chen, Charge d'affaires at the Chinese embassy in Egypt as well as other Egyptian Foreign Ministry officials were also present at the talks.
