IAEA delegation, Iran begin nuclear talks in Tehran
Adjust font size:

The delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iranian officials on Tuesday started their new round of talks on Iran's nuclear program, state-run Press TV channel reported on its website.

The IAEA delegation is headed by the agency's Deputy Director-General Olli Heinonen and the Iranian side is led by deputy head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Javad Vaeedi, the report said.

Deputy chief of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization for international and planning affairs Mohammad Saeedi and Iranian Ambassador to IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh will also attend the talks.

The IAEA delegation, which arrived in Tehran early Tuesday morning, will stay in Iran for "two or three days," the official IRNA news agency quoted Soltanieh as saying earlier.

The talks are "only related to expert issues," including topics related to P1 and P2 centrifuges, which are used for uranium enrichment, Soltanieh said.

The new round of Iran-IAEA talks is being held based on an agreement reached between the two sides in August which called for removing all outstanding issues on Iran's nuclear program upon a specified time-table.
