Top political advisor Jia Qinglin met in Beijing on Wednesday with Hidayat Nur Wahid, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia (MPR), calling on the two sides to boost bilateral cooperation and further enrich the strategic partnership.

Hailing the progress made in bilateral relations in recent years, Jia said China values its relations with Indonesia and the role that Indonesia plays in the international community.

"We will make joint efforts with the Indonesian side to boost cooperation in various fields, further enrich the strategic partnership and make contribution to the promotion of peace and prosperity in the region and the world at large", said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

He also expressed his appreciation to Indonesia's coherence to the one-China policy and its supports for China's efforts to maintain territorial integrity and national unification.

On ties between the CPPCC and MPR, Jia reaffirmed the CPPCC's wish to deepen bilateral relations, proposing the two sides to conduct further exchanges at various levels and in various forms.

Agreeing with Jia's views on bilateral relations, Hidayat said Indonesia attaches great importance to the relations with China and he has witnessed the progress and achievements China had scored in economic and social construction during his current visit.

He told Jia that Indonesian government and its people would continue to step up bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Hidayat also reiterated that Indonesia would stick to the one-China policy and support China's effort to realize the reunification of the country.

Hidayat arrived in China on Monday at the invitation of Jia.
