President Hu Jintao has sent a message of congratulation to his Seychellois counterpart James Michel on his victory in the presidential election held from July 28 to 30, local media reported on Wednesday.
Chinese Embassy in Seychelles confirmed the message which was sent after Michel was declared the winner of the race.
"I would like to extend to you, on behalf of the Government and people of the People's Republic of China and in my own name, the warmest congratulations and best wishes, and wish Your Excellency greater success in carrying out your noble duty," Hu said in the message.
Hu said China and Seychelles enjoy traditional friendly relations and the Chinese government always attaches great importance to developing the bilateral relationship.
"I would like to join Your Excellency to continue bringing forward the existing relationship of friendly cooperation between our two countries to higher levels," Hu said in the message.
